The lips of the basket will keep it from falling into the drain hole, however, before actually inserting the basket, you will want to add a ring of plumbers putty around the underside of the lips of the Filter basket to make a nice seal and prevent leaking.

The rest of the installation takes place under the sink. Tighten the nuts and washers that connect the copper piping tail piece and basket Filter. Don't over tighten anything as that may cause cracking. When everything is in place, turn on the water and check for leaks.
